Many cruise ships arriving in the Dutch capital berth at our unique premises on the banks of the IJ. The Passenger Terminal Amsterdam team coordinates the efficient handling of vessels and the reception of the company’s passengers. Under the undulating roof that symbolizes the connection between land and water, approximately 300,000 passengers a year are warmly welcomed upon their arrival in the capital city of the Netherlands. The terminal is the ideal start to a visit to Amsterdam thanks to its location and public transport links within close walking distance.

Passenger Terminal Amsterdam is easily accessible by car, tram, train and boat. 

 

Parking

Parking at PTA is outstanding. You can park your car in the Piet Heingarage beneath the terminal or you can use Valet Parking Servicve, the Parking Centrum Oosterdok or P+R Zeeburg.

 

Piet Heingarage

The Piet Heingarage is located beneath the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam. This garage is kept under 24-hour-a-day CCTV surveillance. When you leave you can pay at the ticket machine by cash, bank pass or credit card. There is a special rate for cruise passengers of €16,- per 24 hrs. Please go to the reception desk at PTA when you return from your cruise, here you can activate your cruise rate. When it is not activated- you will pay the full rate of € 4,28 per hours up to a maximum of € 47,50. When you are using the cruise rate you can't pay by credit card. Parking in this garage is based upon availability, making reservations is not possible. For further information click here.

Valet parking

Alternatively, you can use a valet parking xervices via Central Parking Valet Service. You make a reservation through the website or by telephone (0031-(0)20-2241777). Then call the company as soon as you arrive at PTA. They pick up your car and park the car safely during your cruise. When you return from your cruise call them again. They drive the car for you to PTA, where you can get in and continue your journey back home directly. Cost for 10 days amounts eg 170. Parking Centrum Oosterdok

Parking Centrum Oosterdok, which is just 10 minutes’ walk from PTA, has 1.369 parking spaces. This garage is kept under 24-hour-a-day CCTV surveillance. It offers a parking rate for the first 5 uur hours, €1 per 12 minutes. After 5 hours (max. 24 hrs.) you pay a fixed rate of €15. This cyclus repaeats after each 24 hrs. of parking. When you lose your parking ticket you have to pay €25,= per day. They also offer a special night time rate between 21:00 hrs. - 06:00 hrs. of €1 per hour.

P+R Zeeburg

An excellent alternative using the P+R Zeeburg parking service outside the city centre. From here you take the Nº26 tram which takes you to Passenger Terminal Amsterdam in five to ten minutes. The P+R rate depends on the time you enter the P+R. For opening times, rates, availability, conditions and route, click here.

By car

From Utrecht/ Amersfoort

On the A2 from Utrecht and A1 from Amersfoort follow the A10 towards Zaanstad to the exit 14 Centrum, Zeeburg, Artis, IJburg exit. At the end of the exit lane, turn left. Follow this road and go straight on at the first and second set of traffic lights. You will then enter the Piet Hein tunnel. At the end of the tunnel get into the right-hand lane and turn right towards Centraal Station at the traffic lights. Continue along this road. After the second set of traffic lights (with the railway tunnel on your left) turn right into the second entrance where you will see the terminal on your right. The entrance to the Piet Heingarage is also located before the terminal. 

From Zaandam

On the A10 from Zaandam follow the E35 signs towards Amersfoort/ Volendam to the exit 14 Centrum, Zeeburg, Artis, IJburg exit. At the end of the exit lane, turn left. Follow this road and go straight on at the first and second set of traffic lights. You will then enter the Piet Hein tunnel. At the end of the tunnel get into the right-hand lane and turn right towards Centraal Station at the traffic lights. Continue along this road. After the second set of traffic lights (with the railway tunnel on your left) turn right into the second entrance where you will see the terminal on your right. The entrance to the Piet Heingarage is also located before the terminal. 

From The Hague/ Schiphol

Leave the A4 at the ‘De nieuwe meer’ junction, joining the A10 towards A10 Ringweg Zuid. At the Amstel junction follow the A10/E35 towards Amersfoort. At the Watergraafsmeer junction, follow the A10/E35 towards Zaanstad until the exit 14 Centrum, Zeeburg, Artis, IJburg exit. At the end of the exit lane, turn left. Follow this road and go straight on at the first and second set of traffic lights. You will then enter the Piet Hein tunnel. At the end of the tunnel get into the right-hand lane and turn right towards Centraal Station at the traffic lights. Continue along this road. After the second set of traffic lights (with the railway tunnel on your left) turn right into the second entrance where you will see the terminal on your right. By boat

The PTA can also be reached by water. Event ships can moor at the 600 m long dock on the IJ behind the terminal to allow guests to embark and disembark. In front of the terminal is the recently completed Zouthaven where canal tour boats can drop their passengers in front of the door.

Taxi

You can travel to PTA by taxi. Taxis are also available in front of Central Station. A taxi ride should cost between €7.50 and €12.50.

Tram

From Central Station, you can also take the Nº 26 tram towards IJburg, getting off at the ‘Muziekgebouw’ tram stop. A tram leaves Central Station for the terminal around every ten minutes. Plan your journey here

Public transport

Cruise passengers departing from Passenger Terminal Amsterdam are advised to travel here by public transport.

The cruise terminal is near Amsterdam Central Station – about 15 minutes’ walk. Leave the Central station at the ‘Noordzijde’ (where the ferries depart), turn right and walk alongside the water. Most of the times you will be able to see the cruise ship in the distance. The terminal is directly after the second bridge, next to the Mövenpick Hotel.

Touring car parking

Touringcar Terminal Amsterdam (TTA) is the bus station of Passenger Terminal Amsterdam. An ideal location, with the city centre at walking distance and easy to reach by road via exit S114. Drivers are welcome to use Touringcar Terminal Amsterdam to park their bus after dropping off their passengers.

TTA can accommodate 42 touring cars, which can enter and exit 24 hours a day. The terminal is monitored and manned.

Parking is subject to availability and is priced at €5,- per hour with a maximum of €60,- per 24 hours. Payment can be done through cash, debit- or credit card.

Attainability Waterland Terminal

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PASSENGERS WHO TAKE A CRUISE FROM AMSTERDAM IN JULY 2017 WITH THE KONINGSDAM 2017:


Passengers boarding at
Koningsdam (July 23):
You embark at Passenger Terminal Amsterdam (PTA). Your cruise does not end at PTA, but at Waterland Terminal. In case you want to come by car we recommend using Valet Parking Service via Central Parking. Your car will be driven away and parked for you on the day your cruise starts and your car will be waiting for you when you return from your cruise so you can start your way home immediately. If you are being picked up at the end of this cruise than this will be at the Waterland Terminal and not at PTA!

- PTA advises passengers to buy a transferticket by bus to Schiphol Airport on board of the ship. This is by far the easiest way to travel into the airport.
